Acolyte Vesting Guide

The Church's vestments and Altar coverings change color throughout the year to reflect the liturgical season. The following is an outline of the liturgical seasons along with the corresponding vestment colors and attire for each role. If you are ever unsure which season or day it is, check the Altar cloth. ​

​Advent (the four Sundays before Christmas)

  • Crucifer – Crucifer Albs with Purple Attachments and Blue Ribbon Cross

  • Torch Bearers/Book Bearer/Servers/Others – Black Cassocks with White Surplice Overlays and Blue Ribbon Cross

  • Chalice Bearers – Black Cassocks with White Surplice Overlays with Blue Ribbon Medallion

  • Verger – Black Cassocks with Blue Scapular and Cross (personal or the parish crosses)

Christmas (December 24th to January 5th)

  • Crucifer – Crucifer Albs with Feast Day Attachments and White Ribbon Cross

  • Torch Bearers/Book Bearer/Servers/Others – White Albs and White Ribbon Cross

  • Chalice Bearers – White Albs with White Ribbon Medallion

  • Verger – White Albs with Feast Day Scapular and Cross (personal or the parish crosses)

Epiphany (January 6th to the Tuesday before Ash Wednesday)

  • Crucifer – Crucifer Albs with Green Attachments and Green Ribbon Cross

  • Torch Bearers/Book Bearer/Servers/Others – White Albs and Green Ribbon Cross

  • Chalice Bearers – White Albs with Green Ribbon Medallion

  • Verger – White Albs with Green Scapular and Cross (personal or the parish crosses)

Lent (Ash Wednesday to Easter Vigil)
